Beaumont’s “Coding Against the Odds” camp took place at Beaumont School on Saturday March 11, 2017 from 8:30 am – 12 noon.   There were 23 girls(grades 3-8) in attendance from a variety of schools across the Cleveland area.  All participants received special camp t-shirts with the “Coding Against the Odds” logo imprinted on them.

The camp included 3 break-out sessions where students learned a variety of skills connected to coding.  They explored different languages(including HTML, JavaScript, and Scratch), worked with robots and a hologram, and practiced using a coding language using and Scratch.  As part of the morning, all gathered in the Beaumont Commons to hear Rebecca Sullivan, a Developer & Consultant from Hyland Software, speak on careers related to coding. After a time to share and give feedback on the sessions, the morning concluded with the awarding of “Coding Against the Odds” certificates to all participants.

This camp was planned and led by the members of Be@uTech club.  Beaumont students from Be@uTech served as both Camp Counselors and Camp Instructors. Their enthusiasm, skill, and hard work in planning, teaching, and working behind the scenes contributed to a successful coding event!

Thank you to those who served as Counselors and Instructors for the event:

Alex Andrus, Kimberly Browske, Margaret Schiffer, Emma Rubadue, Alex Danford, Lindsey Clark, Anya Hardin, Molly Zachlin, Lily Wagner, Nyomi Morris, Layah Hodges, Megan Candow, Katie Bagley.

Congratulations and thank you to the Be@uTech group who planned and worked on creating this event!
