Beaumont women can look to with pride and joy – the celebration of a century and a half of the amazing resilience of the “Beaumont Spirit.” For more than 150 years, Beaumont has maintained an unbroken link with that first Euclid Avenue school called the Ursuline Academy by continuing to operate under the original charter granted to the Ursuline Sisters for the education of young women.
But beyond the historic data and old photos, there lies another constant perhaps not as tangible, the survival of the spirit of the Beaumont woman throughout the decades. Her spirit of commitment to high academic standards is there in the chalkdust. The stairwells and inkwells echo her dedication to seeking solutions to issues important to all women through all times. Her demonstration of true leadership in every era, in every walk of life, locally and across the nation is as strong as the foundation stones at each Beaumont address. Through the halls, through the years, her responses to the call to serve those in need can be heard.
It has been said that when she leaves, the Beaumont woman takes a little piece of Beaumont with her and leaves a piece of herself behind. Year after year, reunion classes reweave the Beaumont tapestry with memories and friendships that last for lifetimes. Their relationships embody that certain something that is the Beaumont woman – a quality that can bridge centuries.
