Below is the summer reading information for all class levels. After you locate your class level assignment attached to the readings, please review them carefully. If you have any questions, you should contact your next year’s English teacher before school ends. Rising seniors: be aware you have been assigned a college essay to write as well.

Turnitin information will be given to you in your English classes once school begins. Your summer papers for all class levels will be due soon after we return to school, proably at the beginning of the second week. You will be notified once we have ascertained a date.

All incoming freshmen must read:

  • To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
  • The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

In addition, Honors incoming freshmen must also read:

  • Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier

In addition, honors rising sophomores must also read:

All rising juniors will select two (college prep) or three (IB Literature, HL year 1) works of their choice. 

For both college prep and IB HL, year 1 students, one selection must be a play.

In addition to your summer reading assignments, you are required to write ONE COLLEGE APPLICATION ESSAY (250 word minimum length; maximum length of 650 words) to help you begin the application process.
