In 1850, as you know, four Ursuline sisters came to Cleveland from France at the behest of Bishop Luis Amadeus Rappe. In the spirit of St. Angela Merici, answering the “noble call to be a teacher of the children of God,” they accepted 300 students at 50 Euclid Avenue and started a tradition of education, leadership cultivation, and sisterhood that has proved transcendent. Nearly 175 years and more than 7,000 students later, Beaumont School remains a beacon of excellence in Catholic education. In fact, Beaumont is the oldest all girls Catholic school in Greater Cleveland.
In honor of our history, your devotion to the Beaumont Sisterhood and recognition of the value of an Ursuline education, we have created The 1850 Society, which celebrates individuals who have contributed at the leadership level of $525 or greater each year. ($1.75 in honor of our anticipated 175th anniversary x 300 for each of the young women who first graced the halls Ursuline Academy = $525.)
Your donation of $525 will help young women of today change the world tomorrow by supporting our signature academic programs such as the International Baccalaureate Program, which has educated scholars with professional level skills in areas such as STEM, Math, and Life Sciences, and fostered critical, independent thinking, concern for all humanity, and leadership skills.
Membership in the 1850 Society also supports development of new programs, such as an IB Film pilot within our 4-year Fine Arts Program. Your contribution of $525 or greater will help to purchase camera and other equipment needed to launch an IB Film Program, which not only adds value for future professional potential, but offers current students the ability to formally document their journeys of faith and courage.
The aforementioned are just a couple of ways that your gift helps Beaumont students to achieve excellence, but your gifts also help to create an environment where young women want to be. We must create an environment that is conducive to helping them work together, to work independently, to learn the value of leadership through service, and most importantly develop a desire to change the world, just as St. Angela Merici did, just as Sr. Dorothy Kazel did, just as you have in your generosity.
