Work Study

Beaumont Work Study Program

Beaumont utilizes a small, need-based volunteer Work Study program to support the operations of the cafeteria. Students utilize their allotted lunch time to work in the cafeteria to serve their peers. Students may be involved in limited food preparation, serving, stocking, and cashiering activities. Students work directly with Chef Bo and the cafeteria staff.

How do I apply and what criteria are required?

Students are selected for the Work Study Program based on need, interest, and experience. Students who are interested in participating in Work Study must complete an application. Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated need based on their submitted FACTS Grant and Aid Application; however, all students who are interested are welcome to apply. Slots are limited and usually based on the number of graduating seniors in the program. Work Study position assignments are within the sole discretion of Beaumont.

Will my student earn any Work Study credits and how are they applied?

Students earn credits based on their Work Study participation. The Work Study rate for the 25-26 school year is $10.70, or the 2025 Ohio minimum wage. Students will earn credit for one 30min time slot per day that they work. For example, if a student only works for 10 minutes, they will still earn credit for the full 30 minute lunch slot. Students can use these credits toward tuition and fees including fees for extracurricular activities charged through FACTS. Earnings will be applied toward tuition first and then any applicable fees. Students may alternatively elect to have their earnings applied as cafeteria credit to purchase lunch items. Finally, students may alternatively choose to waive their earnings in exchange for service hours. Students should work with Chef Bo and Mrs. Mejak on service hours. Students who are selected for the Work Study program will be given a Work Study Contract on which they can elect their preference from options listed.
