Beaumont won a share of the North Coast League division titles in each of the final two years that the league existed (2018-19 and 2019-20) and coach Derrick Russell was tabbed as the North Coast League Coach of the Year in 2019-20 before the NCL evolved into the Crown Conference.
Most recently, Sophia Boes ’23 was named first team All-Crown Conference after the inaugural 2021-22 season.
Two of Russell’s players, Carly Perusek ’20 and Lydia Gattozzi ’21, surpassed the 1,000-point mark during their careers to join Mary Browne ’83, Eileen Wittman ’99 and Annie Bova ’12 as the five players in program history to reach the mark.
Notable Alumna
Lydia Gattozzi ’21 burst onto the scene with 27 points in her first high school game, and she went on to score 1,496 career points which made her Beaumont’s all-time leading scorer.
Gattozzi was named Division II All-Ohio honorable mention after each of her first two seasons in Cleveland Heights, then she was placed on the Division II All-Ohio special mention list at the conclusion of her junior and senior seasons before going on to play Division I basketball at Canisius College.
