#BeaumontTravels: Avignon, France, Day 2 + 3

After having rehearsed so well on Friday, we took to the skies like pros early Saturday morning.

Layovers in New York and Paris were long but uneventful.

The girls were joyfully reunited with their French sisters in the Marseille airport Sunday morning, and the teachers who visited Beaumont in April, Julie and Audrey, were there to greet us, too.

From the airport, we drove into the city of Marseille for a visit to the Old Port and the Basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde, before heading to Avignon.
Marseille is the second largest city in France, and her history goes back at least to the Phoenecians and Greeks. On our tram ride up to the basilica, we were told that the discovery of paintings found in an underwater cave may push the roots of this cosmopolitan city back to pre-history.

It's a (another) beautiful morning in the South of France, sunny and warm.
Today we will visit the school, Lycée Saint Joseph, the Palais Des Papes, the Bridge, the Rochers Des Doms garden, and the historic city center of Avignon.

A bientôt!
