Three Beaumont School Teachers Named Exemplars in Science Education by The Ohio Academy of Science

Cleveland Heights, Ohio- Beaumont School teachers Gretchen Santo, Maggie Mueller, and Rebecca Hamrick have been named Exemplars in Science Education by The Ohio Academy of Science. This award recognizes their efforts to incorporate inquiry-based research and technological design into their classroom to effectively teach and motivate intrinsic learning. Due to their outstanding efforts, Beaumont students excelled in the 2021 District Science Day and State Science Day, including nine students earning “Excellent” or “Superior” ratings on their projects.

For the first time in twenty years, Beaumont received the Harold C. Shaw Memorial Outstanding School Award at this year’s State Science Day. This is an award presented to schools that had four or more students receive a “superior” score on their research projects. Through the guidance of our science educators, nine Beaumont students participating in the State Science Day earned “Excellent” or “Superior” ratings on their science projects. Beaumont is proud to be one of fourteen Ohio schools that received this recognition at this year’s State Science Day.

“We are proud of Mrs. Santo, Mrs. Mueller, and Mrs. Hamrick and the recognition of their impact on our students’ lives from this well-deserved award from The Ohio Academy of Science. With their guidance, our teachers set the stage for our students to succeed both in and outside our classrooms. Through unique, inquiry-based teaching they ensure students develop skills in critical thinking and creative problem-solving necessary to succeed in today’s world,” said Principal Nick Beyer.
