Cleveland Heights, Ohio – Beaumont School is proud to announce that six of its seniors have earned recognition in the prestigious 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. Four students have been named National Merit Semifinalists, while two have been recognized as Commended Scholars. Additionally, three students have received the National African American Recognition Program Award.
The four semifinalists—Maya Blazer, Elisa Moulthrop, Clare Salem, and Bridget Thomas—will advance in the competition for National Merit Finalist status. Beaumont’s two Commended Scholars, Lucy Furjanic and Avalon Woconish also earned national recognition for their PSAT performance.
In addition, Beaumont celebrates three seniors—Kylie Gibbs, Keyshonna Haywood, and Olivia Rogers—who have been honored with the National African American Recognition Program Award.
This year, approximately 16,000 students nationwide earned National Merit Semifinalist status. Beaumont’s semifinalists will now move forward by submitting their finalist applications by October 11. To qualify as finalists, they must take the SAT or ACT and earn a score that confirms their PSAT/NMSQT performance. Typically, 95% of Semifinalists achieve Finalist status, making them eligible for one of 7,140 National Merit Scholarships, valued at nearly $28 million.
"To be recognized as a National Merit Semifinalist or Commended Scholar is a testament to the dedication and hard work these students have put into their academic journey. Additionally, the achievements of our African American Recognition Program awardees reflect Beaumont's commitment to excellence and diversity. We are incredibly proud of each of you for reaching these impressive milestones, and we know your futures will be filled with continued success."
