Coreen Schaefer joyfully rejoins the Beaumont community as Assistant Principal of Student Affairs, after serving as Beaumont’s Dean of Students from 2013-2017.
A lifelong Catholic school educator, Coreen has spent eight years in the classroom and most recently, directed experiential learning initiatives at Gilmour Academy. She served as a Resident Educator Mentor to new faculty at Gilmour Academy and Chaviva High School. Coreen holds five Ohio educator licenses, is an OTES credentialed teacher evaluator, and will complete her Superintendency Licensure at Ursuline College this spring.
Coreen is passionate about all-girls education, hands-on learning and dialogue, community building and diversity, inclusion, and empathy initiatives. In her previous season at Beaumont, Coreen introduced Convocation, the St. Angela Merici Speaker Series, the Diversity and Inclusion Team, and wellness programming. She loves the “Ursuline way.”
“I’ve always felt Beaumont is magical – and I continued to believe that even during my step away. There is something so special and sacred here. We stand on the shoulders of thousands of remarkable women who came before us, and you can feel that on our campus, in our community.
“During my first year at Beaumont in 2013, one of the moms said to me, 'This is the only time in my daughter’s life that she will get an opportunity to experience this, this sisterhood set apart. She has the rest of her life to join in with everyone else. These four years are just for her.’ What a gift.
“It is such an absolute joy to get to witness the ‘sisterhood set apart’ every day. At no other school are girls so simultaneously scholarly and supportive. These girls live and breathe community; they lead selflessly with heart because they know their leadership benefits their sisters both inside our stone walls and around the world. Beaumont is sisterhood at its very best.”
Coreen and her husband live in Independence with their three children. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Virginia, a Master of Teaching in Secondary English from the University of Virginia, and a Master of Education in Administration from John Carroll University.
