FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Cleveland Heights, Ohio- Beaumont School President Wendy Hoke has named Ann Hoelzel as principal beginning June 1. Hoelzel currently serves as Beaumont’s Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs and IB Coordinator. She brings extensive experience with her academic background, dedication to the Ursuline charism, knowledge of the International Baccalaureate, and her deep commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
“Becoming principal at Beaumont School is a humbling honor,” shares Hoelzel. “I stand on the shoulders of an incredible foundation laid by the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland. Their dedication to educating young women in the spirit of St. Angela has been an inspiration and has shaped an institution that for me is a wonderful fit.”
Since she came to Beaumont in 2015, Hoelzel has served in various roles including IB Diploma Programme Coordinator, Technology Coordinator, History Teacher, Director of Curriculum and Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs. For the past three years she has served on the Academic and Ursuline Identity Committee of the Board of Directors and served as the faculty representative for the Board’s Strategic Planning Committee in 2018. Prior to Beaumont, she served at St. Joan of Arc, Parma, North Olmsted, Solon and Euclid school districts.
Under her leadership as IB Coordinator, Hoelzel oversaw a 100 percent IB Diploma passage rate in May 2021. “Beaumont is a place of whole-person and community-based learning. I hope to grow this focus and continue to align it with the prestigious, globally-minded IB curriculum in grades 9-12 with a mindset of ‘IB for all,’ ensuring exposure for each and every student at Beaumont,” says Hoelzel.
“As the mother of three daughters, Ann understands that student well-being is an important focus for all schools, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic,” says President Hoke. “She joins me in building on the strength of our nearly 175-year Ursuline tradition of educating young women who will change the world through life, leadership and service. One of the many things that excite me most about Ann’s leadership is our shared belief that equity must be a central focus of schools and that collaborative leadership builds community, efficiency, joy and great outcomes for students.”
As a lifelong learner, President Hoke adds that Hoelzel’s mindset is that of an innovator who also understands that education is fundamentally a human endeavor. “Ann is authentic in all her interactions with faculty, staff, students and parents. Schools must continue to evolve, and Ann has a mission-focused approach and demonstrated capacity to lead others through the Ursuline characteristic of dynamic adaptability.”
In addition to a law degree from Case Western Reserve University, Hoelzel has the following graduate degrees: Master of Educational Administration, Ursuline College; Master of Educational Foundations and Leadership – Instructional Technology, The University of Akron; Master of Education in School Counseling, John Carroll University; Master of Education in Teaching and Learning – Social Studies and Global Education, The Ohio State University.
Completing Beaumont’s academic leadership team are Coreen Schaefer, Assistant Principal; Simon Masters, IB Coordinator; Kristi Radolovic, Academic Affairs Manager.
